  • Visit to County Hall for our Councillors

    Wed 11 Feb 2015
A few weeks ago, our Upper Junior School Councillors had the pleasure of visiting Ruthin County Hall.

The idea behind it was to have a guided tour of the building and understand how the Council is run.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the Chairman, Councillor Brian Blakeley and other members of the Council. Pupils could ask questions and had a chance to see how the voting system worked using various colourful buttons!

It was a wonderful afternoon and the children gained a lot from the experience. They represented our School fantasically well too!

Take a look at a couple of the photographs below.

  • It's official! We are 'Green'

    Thu 05 Feb 2015
As you may have seen in the media recently, schools across Wales have been categorised into four colour bands, based on how well they are seen to be doing.

We have been put into the 'green' category, which mean we are a 'highly effective school which is well run, has strong leadership and is clear about its priorities for improvement. These schools have a track record in raising the standards that pupils achieve and have the capacity to support other schools to do better.'

We are only one of four schools in Denbighshire to be awarded the green category and one of only 230 across Wales. As you can see, this is a great achievement and everyone associated with the school should be very proud.

  • Calling all shoppers!

    Wed 03 Dec 2014

Would you like to be a 'School Angel'?

We are pleased to announce that Ysgol Bryn Hedydd has teamed up with a new charity called schoolangel.org.uk which will help our school to raise money, along with many other schools in the UK. We can then spend the money on helping your child get the most out of school.

School Angel works with lots of big shopping brands in the UK which have agreed to donate a portion of the profit, they normally make on your shopping if you use the School Angel website to visit their shop. You are guaranteed to only pay exactly the same price, for whatever you buy, but our school will also receive a donation.

School Angel is really simple to use and our school has its own charity page already set up which you can visit here :

    http://www.schoolangel.org.uk/ysgol-bryn-hedydd.html

Once on the page all you need to do is click on the logo for whatever shop you would like to visit. School Angel does not need you to ever create an account or login, there are no passwords to remember and they will never trouble you with any junk mail.

We are really excited that School Angel can help our school raise lots of money, which will be put towards future initiatives. So please remember to use the School Angel site when you shop online and ask your friends and relatives to support us too! Thank you. As we approach Christmas, we hope that our staff, you, your friends and family might consider visiting this website prior to your purchases.

Many thanks for your ongoing support. Every purchase you make will really make a difference.

    Wed 19 Nov 2014

Thank you to the people who came to the sleepover. Thank you also to the teachers for giving up their time. Well done to the staff who didn't get found in 'hide and seek'. We had a wonderful time in school on Friday night. Cory's favourite part was the 'hide and seek' game because it was tricky to find people.
