ICT, ICT, ICT, ICT.........
What an ICT day we have had!
With Years 4,5,6 and 3RP out of school today, we took the opportunity to use the laptops.
As soon as we walked in in the morning, Year 3LW were put to work, logging onto the laptops and finding our school website.
Our first lesson began straight after registration and it involved using the 'Newsround' website. Working in pairs, we had to read through lots of interesting news articles and choose one that we could work with.
From that article, we had to write our own script, as if we were presenting a news report. We used 'Microsoft Word' to type up our script and saved it. We practised our script and made sure it was interesting and informative.
Next job was to find a suitable background for our news report. Once we had done that we were ready to go! We went next door to Mr Pickavance's empty room and used the software 'I can present'. For it, we had to stand in front of a green sheet and our chosen image was projected onto the screen. Then our script was added to the software and it appeared on a rolling screen which we were to read.
When Mrs Williams pressed record, we were off! Presenting our very own news reports! Wow! Follow the links below to see how we got on.
Once we had done this, we continued developing our ICT skills by producing a poster using 'Microsoft Publisher'. We had to design a poster about 'Beach Day' last week. We added clipart, photos, word art, borders and formatted autoshapes. Some of our posters are great. Open up the pdfs below to see what we produced!
Our last task of the day was using '2 Do It Yourself' software. It is a modelling software which allows us to create our own games. In pairs, we devised a collecting game and had to create obstacles and objects to collect. Some of us have used this in Mr Pickavance's Fun Friday group so are very good at it, and can even create different levels and instructions for the game!
What a day! We worked very hard for Mrs Williams and developed lots of ICT skills along the way.
