Croeso to our school website! We believe that every step of your child's education is as important as the one before. With this in mind, we strive continually to provide inspiring learning experiences for children.
Pie Corbett is an English educational writer and a poet who has written well over two hundred books. He is well known for promoting creative approaches in the classroom and has had a great deal of experience as a teacher, Head teacher and Ofsted Inspector. His work on story writing is fascinating and very enjoyable, but also acts as a great stimulus for pupils. Last week pupils were given the opportunity of working with Mrs Edge (year 1 teacher) looking at promoting awareness on story writing. Pupils toughly enjoyed the experience and took away some valuable knowledge to use when writing their own story writing.
This week we have used Pie Corbett's methods and looked at the story of 'Little Charlie'. The pupils have then had focus lessons on similes, alliteration and descriptive writing. The children demonstrated a greater awareness of the importance of including similes, allegation, three part sentences and descriptive words within their own stories. Check out the pictures to see how the pupils got on.
