  • Dragon's Den - henna tattoo idea

    Tue 12 Jun 2012

You may be aware that our Year 6 children take part in a Dragon's Den activity. One group wanted to do 'henna patterns' but Mr Cannon has made the decision that because this causes a potential health and safety risk, this activity will now be withdrawn.

Apologises for any mis-understanding and the girls will endeavour to organise a different activity for their project.

Many thanks for your understanding on this matter.

  • Global Citizenship Week - the Olympics have arrived in Rhyl!

    Mon 11 Jun 2012

We hope you have all had a super half term!
But of course you are all glad to be back in school again!

First week back and Ysgol Bryn Hedydd are celebrating our Global Citizenship Week, following the theme of the Olympics.

The children will be involved in many activities, which will follow a cross-curricular theme.

From Nursery to Year 6 we will look at the Ancient Olympics and how we came to celebrate the Modern Day Olympics. We will develop so many skills along the way and are all enthused about the week!

Remember everyone, we have our next whole-school Beach Day on Wednesday 13th June. So the children will need to come to school in non-school uniform, but appropriate clothing for a day at the beach! Follow a link below to check the weather forecast for our area on Wednesday.
The children will also need a packed lunch in a disposable plastic bag.

    Don't forget...
Our Summer Fayre is this Friday 15th June.

This year will start with an Olympic style procession at 5.00p.m. This will be led by the 'Rhyl Youth's Marching Band' and afterwards children and parents can join in the many activities planned. There will be a BBQ and bar.

Please come along and join us for our Olympic Week celebration and Summer Fair.

  • Social Networking Sites

    Sun 10 Jun 2012

It has been brought to our attention recently that such sites are sometimes being used by our pupils to cause alarm to other pupils.

Please be aware such sites are designed for older children and adults and it is obviously parental responsibility to ensure children have the correct settings present. However if such sites are used as a means of cyber bullying then the school will pass information onto the police and allow them to decide on the next course of action.

    Thank you for your support

  • Lydia Harrison, our Head Girl, Sings For The Queen

    Tue 05 Jun 2012

    Today was the day!!!

What an amazing achievement, being selected to sing for Her Majesty The Queen at The Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations today, June 5th 2012.

Lydia joined 39 other children in the Diamond Choir and sang an especially composed song to celebrate the Queen's 60 years on the throne. The beautiful performance was watched by millions of people all over the world. It was a wonderful sight to watch and we are very proud of Lydia's achievement. She is a credit to our school.

Lydia discovered the Diamond Choir after looking at the Jubilee site on Twitter. She had to write a little bit about herself before being selected to audition for the choir.

400 children from all over Great Britain applied to become part of the choir, and after her audition in St Asaph Cathedral at the end of April Lydia was selected.

Congratulations Lydia, we are all very proud of you!
