  • 'What's in the box'?

    Fri 21 Feb 2014

What a week in Ysgol Bryn Hedydd!
The final week before we break up for the half term holidays and all classes have had an additional challenge...

Mr Cannon gave each class a box and inside the box were four, rather random objects. As a class, our job was to come with how we could use these objects in our lessons.

At first, many of us scratched our heads, but then as we got thinking, before we knew it we had a week full of activities!

Every class has enjoyed the challenge and had some fantastic experiences.

Remember to look on Twitter for up-to-date photos!

Ask your children what they have been up to this week.

We have two home tasks this year, for pupils who want to participate.

Take a photo of yourself at a welsh landmark [can be local]
Print it off, put your name on the back and bring it in.
You can get 5 house points if you enter the competition!!!

    2. Handwriting competition [Years 1-6]
Copy out the Welsh National Anthem [1st verse and chorus] in the best handwriting.
Feel free to make it your own and decorate it in your own way.

Entries to be returned to school by Wednesday 5th March for judging.
Winners will be announced in the school Eisteddfod

    Mwynhewch a pob lwc!
    Have fun and good luck!

On the day of the Eisteddfod [Friday 7th March] children can come in welsh national dress, welsh sports tops or in colours from the welsh flag [green/red/white]
    Please remember this is optional.

    Welsh National Anthem

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
    Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mad,
    Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

    Chorus:
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra mor yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
    O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

  • Our Beach School Sector Leading Practice case study is published on Estyn's website

    Wed 05 Feb 2014

Our Beach School Initiative is Sector Leading Practice
When Estyn visited our school back in November 2012, they were very impressed with many things, but non more so than our Beach School initiative. We were awarded 'Sector Leading Practice' for our use of the beach, for our lessons and the vast variety of outdoor learning activities we undertake there.
Estyn have now published a full 'Best Practice Case Study' on their website detailing our Beach School ethos. To read the full article click on the link below.
