We are using this website page as an information and resource page, where we will let you know about information about Year 5 and links to useful websites.

Our team:
Mr Vincent - teacher
Mrs Williams - teacher
Mrs Harcourt - L.S.A
Mrs Owen - L.S.A

Please follow what our classes get up to on the School's Twitter page.

Key Information.
All of the classes in Year 5 are required to read three times each week, with parental comments/ signatures.

P.E - Outdoor P.E is timetabled for a Thursday afternoon. Please can you ensure that children have trainers for this session. As the cold weather arrives, maybe bring a tracksuit?

Indoor P.E is on a Tuesday afternoon. depending on what is being taught, soemtimes both classes will have a shorter session in the hall. However sometimes, in order to gain a longer session, we might alternate the weeks.

[It is always best to have P.E kit in school in case this slot is moved.]

ICT
Each child has access to an ipod to use during the day. It has been explained to the children how to use them safely and responsibly.

Autumn Term

In the Autumn term we study 'Mountains'. This links fantastically  with many Geography and Science skills. During this topic, we encourage independent learning and development of research skills. There are also many opportunities to cover language and mathematical skills.
Our class book 'Framed' by Frank Cottrell-Boyce plays a fantastic role in this topic. It is a book set in Manod, Snowdonia and touches on the historical events during World War Two, when paintings from the National Art Gallery were hidden inside Manod mountain during the War.

Spring Term.

In the Spring term, we cover 'Sustainability'. We look at issues around the World and how we are global citizens responsible for looking after our planet. Again this allows to cover many areas of the curriculum, particularly Science and Geography.

Our class text, 'Where the Whales came' by Michael Morpurgo also links with our topic this term.

Summer Term.

During our final topic this year, we look at Space. A popular one amongst the pupils. Science-based, it allows us to develop key skills across the curriculum.

History
An ongoing topic throughout the year is the Victorians.
