Year Three meet the Biodiversity Officer down the beach!

Year Three were treated to a lovely afternoon down at the beach!

Thank you to whoever ordered the sun for us too!

We walked up to the beach to meet Lizzie Webster, a Biodiversity Officer from Denbighshire County Council and some of her friends Kate and Hannah.

Firstly, we told the ladies what we know about the beach, what lives on the beach and in the waters around our shore.

We then talked about how big some of these creatures that live in the sea are. For example, a blue whale measures 30m!!! So we had a go at measuring that out in strides.

Next, we were given the challenge to see what we could find in groups. We were given a bucket and asked to collect some very interesting things we could find on the beach.

We then came back together to discuss and show what we had found. We found lots of different kinds of seaweed, some very pretty shells and colourful rocks.

To finish with, we played some 'Sea Shore' games - 'Sea Anenomes' and 'Echo Location'.

Thank you to Mrs Mutch-Williams, one of our school Beach Co-ordinator for organising our trip to the beach. We had a fantastic time and learnt a lot at the same time!
