Rhuddlan Castle Living History trip

On a surprisingly sunny day this week, year four visited Rhuddlan castle to take part in a history and music project that will continue in year 5. They took part in two workshops which were great fun. One involved drumming along to a beat created by the syllables of words that describe the castle. The other was to watch and listen to a medieval Forrester who showed us how to use weapons and kill knights and soldiers on the battle field. He also told us a lot about medieval equipment, clothing, jobs and lifestyles. He was very funny, or so the children thought! Mrs. Lees and Mrs. Roberts weren't laughing however, when he chose them to be his assistants in his demonstrations of how to kill a knight with different swords!!!!!! Mrs. Lees is sure he chopped a couple of centimetres off her hair acciddentally! See the pictures in the gallery!!

But in keeping with the story telling theme of the afternnon, Jack had his classmates captivated as he told them a story about a duck-billed platypus! What a talent - a future Michael Morpurgo perhaps?
