  • What fantastic art work! A huge thank you to Libby's grandad!

    Thu 19 May 2011
Ysgol Bryn Hedydd would like to say a great big thank you to Libby's granddad, Mr Bill Smith.

He has produced some fantastic paintings for our school, which we will hang proudly in our school foyer.

Mr Smith took some photographs of outside our school, both on the Junior and Infant yard. He then spent the next 1 month and 3 weeks gradually creating these wonderful watercolour paintings.

On Tuesday 17th May, Mr Smith came in to present the works of art to the school.
He also brought some of his other art work in to show us - 12 paintings in all, of various subjects, including flowers, golf clubs and countryside scenes.

Mr Smiths next task is to decorate his granddaughter's new tortoise tank, to make the homes of Uno and Shelby a lovely place to live!

We all thank you Mr Smith for the time you gave up to our school. The watercolours are going to look wonderful in our school reception area!

  • Ysgol Bryn Hedydd Website up for National Award

    Thu 05 May 2011
During the holidays Mr Cannon received a letter to say that our school website has been nominated for the Times Educational Supplement (TES) 'Outstanding School Website of the Year' Award.

It is a fantastic achievement to be nominated and recognises the hard work school has put in to ensure the website is a place for both parents and children alike over the last 8 months since its launch.

Mr Cannon, Mrs Williams and Mr Gallagher, who helped set up the website, will be attending the award ceremony in London on Friday 8th July. Lets hope we come back with the award.

Well done to all including Mrs Williams who is the driving force behind the website.
