  • Remember the Queen's Jubilee Street Party tomorrow afternoon!

    Thu 31 May 2012
The 'Friends' of Bryn Hedydd have suggested we have a 'Jubilee Street Party' in school. The idea will be to have a street party on the school yard on Friday 1st June. The pupils are encouraged to dress up in red, white and blue/ union jack themed non-uniform.

We will have Jubilee activities going on during the week but in particular during the morning of the 1st.

In addition to this, the children have been asked to design a Jubilee hat as homework activity. Entries will be shown during a Jubilee parade in the afternoon on June 1st.

We would like to invite you to join us in the afternoon to help us celebrate the 60 years of the Queen on the throne, by having our 'Street Party', parade and activities. Class Teacher's will organise party food with the children, as is done at Christmas.

Before they go home the 'Friends' will present each child with a Jubilee medal to commemorate this special occasion.

Please write the date in the diary! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Friday 1st June 2012, from 1.00p.m onwards.

  • Important change regarding the 'Olympic Torch'

    Mon 21 May 2012

Your child should be taking home a letter today about the Olympic Torch.
On the back of the pink letter, we have enclosed a slip. We would be grateful if everyone returned this slip to school to let the class teacher know what you intend to do that afternoon.

Although, some schools in the town are closing we will not be officially closed, however:-

    * We must register the children at 1.15pm.

    * You can, if you wish, pick your child/ children up from 1.20pm if you intend to go and watch the torch parade.

If not then school will be open as usual but please be aware if you plan to travel by car on that day then your journey will be extremely disrupted [see closure information on the pink letter]

Remember your child will need to be picked up at the usual time [3.10 or 3.15pm] if you do not intend to go and view the parade.

We are aware that this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity and some of our ex pupils will be taking part on the day. We hope this information helps you and we have listed the road closures and route on the pink letter.

Please ensure you fill in the pro-forma and return it to the class teacher at your earliest convenience.

[We are sorry for any confusion but we do have to follow the guidelines set by County.]

  • School House News!

    Fri 18 May 2012
As a school, we have decided to elevate the prominence of our School Houses:

    Asaph
    Beuno
    Deiniol
    Melyd

Each child has always strived to gain house points for their House and the winning team each week receive 'Reward Play' for the largest amount collected.

Last week, Mr Cannon decided that as a School, we would hold a House Meeting. The meeting was held by the House Captains who gave a presentation about their house. It was extremely well done by our Year 6s and very interesting. Every pupil and member of staff attended the meetings, where it was discussed what ideas the pupils had to elevate the status of our School Houses.

It was requested by many that there be a particular section on the School website for the Houses to put the latest news and events. Maybe even record the weekly house point log! Watch this space to see these ideas come about....

  • We kindly receive a donation from Anaco

    Fri 18 May 2012
Last week we very kindly received a donation of £300 from Anaco window Company, Liverpool.

This was a gesture of good will from the company who spent the first term putting new windows in throughout the school and the work took a lot longer than normal.

The money has been used to buy an Ipad. This specific Ipad will be used by Holly in Year 6 who can not use the Ipod easily.

Many thanks to Anaco for their kind support.
