• Shiver Me Timbers!! A Pirate Boat Sails into Bryn Hedydd

  A pirate boat sailed into Ysgol Bryn Hedydd last week… bringing days and days full of make believe and adventures with it!

    
  The infant playground has been transformed just recently into an area for more than just playing.
  
  
  Our 11 metre Pirate Boat was custom built for Ysgol Bryn Hedydd by Nathan Roberts of Nathan Builders of Prestatyn (parent of Jessica and Joseph Roberts) after Mr Cannon wanted a play theme to go hand in hand with our identity as a Beach School.

   
  After its completion on Thursday, a very excited Year 2 christened the boat and enjoyed an afternoon of free play!     

   

  
  We are sure there will be many years of adventures ahead on the waves of the imagination of the children!

  Thanks to all the pupils, parents and staff for all their fundraising efforts over the last year. 
  Things like this only happen because we all work as a team!

  

• Ysgol Bryn Hedydd leave such a good impression!

  The other day, Mr Cannon received something in the post...
  
  It was a letter, a very nice letter!
  
  The letter referred Mr Cannon's attention back to the Year 6 trip down to London on the train the previous week. Have a look what the letter said...

• YBH Highly Commended in TES Awards

  Today our school was Highly Commended in the TES Outstanding School Website of the Year Awards in London.
  
  The event was fantastic with over 700 people there. In our award category, we were placed second and were shown as highly commended. We were delighted with this achievement. 
  
  Well done to all the staff but to Mrs Williams in particular who has been the driving force behind our website.

  

• New KS1 playground opening!!

  At the Summer Fair Mrs Warrilow had the grand honour of offically opening the new Key Stage 1 playground
  
  Although it was a very wet night some children braved the elements and Scarlett Powell in Year 2 was first on it!!!
  
  Many thanks to all the parents, children and of course the Friends of Bryn Hedydd for raising the money. 
  
  We are not finished though - as the new 10 m long play boat will arrive next week and will be in place to use before the end of the school year- Many thanks to Cool Cats for helping fund this.
   

  

• The Premier League trophy visits Bryn Hedydd!

  Wow! What a treat!
  
  Today, we were given a very special treat! The Premier League Trophy came to our school!

   

  The school hall was buzzing as we came in to have our weekly 'Star of the Week' service.
  
  Joel gave us a talk about the cup and told us some fascinating facts, like it costs £6,000 to cleaned this special cup. And they do so 3 times a year!
  
  We were then able to ask some questions.
  
  After that, the cup was then packed up and taken away, ready for it's next visit. They had 6 more to do that day!!!
  
  Ysgol Bryn Hedydd would like to say a huge thank you to our 'Chair of Bryn Hedydd Friends', Judy Hutchison, and her fiance Mr Mike Walsh for arranging this special visit. They had won 'a day with the trophy' during a recent fundraising event in aid of 'Help the Heroes'.
