  • BH DDRAIG WIN NORTH WALES FINALS

    Mon 30 Jan 2012

Congratulations to the Year 6 F1 in Schools Team who today won the North Wales Finals for the first time.

The team, 'BH DDRAIG', comprising of Sadie Wagstaff, Louis Morgan, Max Evans, Holly Jones, Paris Halliday and Lydia Harrison beat off 21 other teams to be crowned regional champions. They now qualify for the British Finals later in the year in Birmingham.

The team had to design, make, market and race a small F1 replica car at Bangor University today.

We came 2nd and 3rd over the last two years and to win is a major achievement for the school and the region. The children have had a number of local sponsors including Anwyl, The Caravan Doc, Ellis Refurbishments, Cool Cats and Engage. The children used the sponsorship money to buy merchandise and items for their stall.

The children were fantastic and a credit to the school. They again showed how mature and dedicated they are and considering they had very little help with the project were fantastic.

Well done to all including CTS in Rhyl and Gareth Weaver who helped develop the wheels and paint the car.

  • Story writing in style!

    Thu 26 Jan 2012

Ysgol Bryn Hedydd children are all having a valuable learning experience over the next few weeks.

During sessions in the hall and within the classroom, children from Reception to Year 6 are working with Mrs Jenny Edge our new Head of Infants, who is teaching the children lots of skills surrounding story writing.

The story writing sessions follow the ideas of author Pie Corbett. If you would like to find out more about this author, take a look at his fantastic website!

  • Bryn Hedydd were a little 'Jugglestruck' this morning!

    Mon 23 Jan 2012

On Monday morning, Ysgol Bryn Hedydd were treated to 'Jugglestruck'

In was a highly entertaining act which carried with it a very important message. The one-man act showed us skills of juggling and magic whilst helping us learn all about road safety.

Both KS1 and KS2 were reminded of the rules to 'Stop' 'Look' 'Listen' and 'Think' when crossing roads.

Have a look at some of the pictures of what we got up to.
